Champlain College is a private college known for its three-dimensional education program that combines a challenging core curriculum with practical life skills. The school was established in 1878 by G.W. Thompson, who named the college Burlington Collegiate Institute after its location in Burlington, Vermont. The name was officially changed to Champlain College in 1958.
